Save the Date: GRSP Africa Road Safety 2015

Announcing GRSP's 4th African road safety event, 2-3 September 2015, Lusaka, ZAMBIA.

Africa Road Safety 2015 will focus on some of the serious gaps in road safety in countries across the African continent, particularly in the sub-Saharan region. The event will comprise a range of stimulating capacity building workshops, keynote addresses and plenary sessions over two full days.

In 2012, under the leadership of Nestlé, Zurich Insurance and Activa Insurance, a conference on road safety in Africa was held in Ghana. This first conference entitled, 'The Roads Between Us', brought together stakeholders from the public, private and civil society sectors and enjoyed great success both within the conference, and in the establishment of an ongoing road safety sharing platform, the 'Roads Between Us' calls, now hosted by the Global Road Safety Partnership.

The media 'abuzz' during Africa seminar

We report often on the important role the media plays in road safety. Media, in both modern social forms and more traditional mass mediums, has the ear of populations. It can influence, advise and educate; and this was on show for all to see during the GRSP 3rd Africa Seminar in Cape Town.

Local South African newspapers, news websites and television stations covered the event from the opening address from Minister Peters (Minister of Transport) right through to the closing ceremony and beyond. Government portals also shared information highlighting the importance of the now annual event.
